Pictured below are photographs of Podporucznik (2nd Lt.) Andrzej Wojciechowski (PALHA member, Jim Sieradzki's "Uncle"). Podporucznik Wojciechowski was born 26 April, 1918 at Sonsk, Ciechanow, Warsaw. He served in the Polish Army Field Engineers Officer Cadet School 1936-1937. Served in the Polish Army Reserves from 1937-Sept. 1939. Recalled from reserves on 3 Sept. 1939 and served until 30 Sept.1939 (de-mobilized). Podporucznik Wojciechowski was arrested by the Soviet Police 20 Feb. 1940. Was first imprisoned in Poland, but then sent to a "Hard Labor" camp in Arkhangelsk (Artic Circle). He was released on 20 Oct. 1941. Enlisted in Polish Army (2nd Corps) on 3 April 1942-transferred to Iran, then through Iraq, Palestine, and Egypt. Early in 1944, he transferred to Italy. Andrzej Wojciechowski served in Italy from 1944-1946. 2nd Lt. Wojciechowski ,at various times, served with the 3rd "Carpathian" Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, and the 5th "Kresowa" Infantry Division. In 1946, Andrzej Wojciechowski was transferred to Engalnd and Honorably Discharged on 1 April 1949. He moved to California, USA and became a US Citizen.
